Paul Silveria is a driving and innovative banjo player who first began learning clawhammer banjo in 2002 in Portland’s thriving old-time music scene. His repertoire includes old-time, country blues, and jug band tunes, as well as original songs written in the straight-forward story telling style of his traditional favourites.
Paul's band Hammer, Pick, and Saw started out as a self-produced solo EP called Hammer and Claw, which explored darker, heavier arrangements of old-time banjo music. The project now includes Allan Haley on pedal steel, and Athena McKown on fiddle. The ensemble plays moody and immersive versions of traditional tunes.
